Featuring Winnipeg Blue Bomber "Greame Bell"
Why did you get involved with the production?
I went to high school with Kerry Girling and he approached me to play a part in the film just after I had been physically assaulted by a teenager on the street. He felt that I could relate to the material displayed in the film, so I accepted his offer and am happy with the decision.
Can you explain your experience?
It came at a really bad time, I was visiting my friends and family one weekend, just before my third season with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and as I was socializing with some of my friends, I noticed a fight taking place outside (perhaps it was a friend of mine that was involved), so I decided to see if I could put a stop to the fight. As I entered the crowd of people, out of nowhere a teenage boy hit me over the head with a bat and knocked me unconcious.
How has being Bullied (physically assaulted) affected you emotionally?
It was tough to pull myself together (emotionally and physically), especially due to the fact that this specific incident left me with no decision but to leave the Blue Bombers that season. They were in a winning season and made it to the Grey Cup (finals) as well, which made it a lot more difficult to handle, however with the help and encouragment from many friends and family members, I was able to pull myself back together and keep my spirits up.
What are your future plans?
I have been working out continuously, trying to get myself back into physical strength and commiting to live a positive lifestyle, while preparing my mind mentally, all to get back into the game of Football.
What have you learned from that experience and the film?
I have learned that even the toughest of people (physically and mentally) get Bullied. It takes a lot to overcome Bullying, however if you take the positives out of the negatives, you'll beat it a lot easier and quicker.
